Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. By the time she was nine years old, her family was living in Louisiana which was where she took home an annual regional talent competition with the song Patsy Montana's "I I Want to be a Cowboy's Sweetheart. At the age of 15, Decker resided in Georgia. When she started writing songs regularly, she went to Nashville as well as visited music studios as well as record labels in hopes of finding a contract. The songs she wrote were sold to record companies and other artists through a Big Yellow Dog Records agent at the age of 17. When Mercury Records president David Massey heard Decker's demos he passed the songs on to L.A. Reid head of the associated Island/Def Jam label group and Reid signed her to an agreement with a record label. Jessie James released her debut album in August 2009. The album was a self-titled album. Jessie James, which featured Wanted as a top single on the Top 40 Singles Charts was moderately successful. Decker was a country singer who believed herself to be a traditional country musician in the past, was astonished to learn that her album wasn't promoted and produced with a focus on the mass market. Decker was adamant with the label to gain more control of her music following two previous singles failed. Her subsequent album, Boys in the Summer is more country-oriented. Decker's album was titled Daughter of a Gypsy (or Sweet American Dreams), was pulled by Mercury when two of her singles failed to chart on the country charts.
