Richard B. Cheney, prominent public servant and a businessman is the vice president. Cheney is a recognizable figure in Washington over the years. George W. Bush was the fourth president to which he was a part of. Bush decided to choose Cheney as his running mate as Vice President in July of 2000. Bush cited Cheney's experience and insight. When he accepted the Republican vice-presidential nomination Cheney stated that he looks forward to serving with an administration that will strive for the accomplishment of goals through engaging across the partisan divide as well as working with opposition politicians in good faith and common purpose. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941 the son of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. As a 13-year-old, Richard Bruce and his family moved in Casper (in the state of Wyoming) in Wyoming, where his father was Director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's soil conservation district.
