Julia Fiona Roberts' parents are Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus. Roberts is from the fourth generation of Roberts family that resided in Atlanta. This started with her grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was a farm. At an early age his father became obsessed by the theater. As a college student studying at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he participated in several performances. While stationed at Biloxi, Mississippi, he was inducted into the airforce in 1953. Betty Lou Bredemus was part of the show as well. Eric Anthony was their first born. They got married in the year 1957. Walter and his wife quit the military in the year 1957 after which they began enrolment with Walter at Tulane University. Walter was recruited by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to work on the set of Bum Bum and His Buddies. The show was filmed in Decatur Georgia. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 for the children's local Saturday morning TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies, which they funded themselves. In 1964, Walter and Betty Lou established The Actors and Writers Workshop. It lasted for about six years. Lelisa Billingsley, also known as Lisa was born in the year 1965. Julia Billingsley followed in 1967.
